This 2-dimensional magneto-optical trap produces a slowed-down flux of rubidium, cesium or potassium atoms. This system is commonly used in cold atom experiments and atom interferometry. In particular, the MOT2D+ of SYRTE makes it possible to increase the loading speed of 3-dimensional magneto-optical traps by a factor of 10, while maintaining an extremely low residual pressure in the area where the atomic cloud is used.
About twenty systems have already been produced and set up at SYRTE or in external laboratories (LPL, LAC, LKB, LCF, LP2N, PhLAM, ...).
