The launch of the SWOT satellite next Thursday (15/12/2022) will open up a new avenue for satellite altimetry and will provide complete coverage of surface waters (continental and oceanic). SYRTE, through its involvement in the definition and implementation of reference systems, and in particular the vertical reference constituted by the mean sea level, is one of the pillars on which the SWOT mission is based.
